Minutes from REX meeting 2005-11-03
Present:
General
* Some money
is remaining on this year’s budget. If things are needed they should be ordered
quickly.
* In
particular there is 7550 Euros left from
* Li run
went very well. 2.77MeV/u 9Li3+ have been delivered to
the experiment at 50Hz repetition rate. Li2+ were accelerated and stripped to
3+ to avoid 18O4+ contamination.
* The
setting up of
* There
was a general power failure this afternoon (3/11). Everything is now running
again.
* There
will be a power shutdown Sat 19/11.
* There
is a general plan to separate the technical computer network from the general
computer network. This could cause some problems since some of our control
computers are running windows and windows computers should not have access to
the technical network. Romain and Sylvestre
will start to make a list of computers that need to access the technical
network. Alternative solutions can be explored involving network “passerelle” (Nikolai). Meanwhile Mats will also have a
discussion with the CO group as this will affect the whole of Isolde.
* Sven Önnerstad and Jari (external consultants)
will under supervision of Joakim Cederkall
start working on control applications for the console computers. The operation
group will still provide two people to work on control application during the
shutdown. Nikolai will coordinate the work.
* Work is
in progress on the BDI applications. However still preliminary.
* Fredrik
has passed around a list of task that should be done during the shutdown so
people can complete and give feedback.
* Rex
should be up and running again 1th of
April so all work should be finished before this date.
*
Compressed air and water cooling will not be supported between
* At next
week’s Rex meeting the shutdown work will be discussed in detail with the
involved groups.
* This
year’s campaign has been very successful with 9 successes out of 10. Well done
everybody!
TRAP and EBIS
* Romain and
Fredrik have started doing a number of tests on trap and ebis.
* Strong interest for molecular beams. Test
will be carried out during shutdown.
LINAC
* The RF
room air conditioning (air extractor fan) was malfunctioning causing a number
of restart during run. This has now been fixed.
* Apart
from a number of restarts (mostly caused by air cooling failures) there has been no problems with the RF amplifiers during this run!
The 200MHz has been running stably at 80kW 50Hz 500us.
* The
200MHz power supply can now deliver nominal power. Remaining is the problem of
the tube power supplies being subject to failures (for example in case of
discharges). Johannes Broere will contact Mr. Berderman (Bertronix) to get him
over to find a solution to this problem.
* Some
work is planned on the vacuum system in section 5 and 6 after the bender. Users
(Luis coordinates) are asked to clear the space so everything can be easily
accessed.
