- Prof. Schwalm from has informed Mats Lindroos that he will provide a position for the work on the REX control system for one year, starting in April 2004. He mentioned Stephan Emhofer might be the right person for this task.
- All Computers at ISOLDE running on Windows NT have to be upgraded to Windows XP. For security reasons the date for this upgrade is strictly fixed to the beginning of March. It is not yet clear if J. Cederkall will work on this.
- CERN will take the full responsibility for the REX control system if the ISOLDE collaboration manages to finance a full position starting in 2005.
2. REXTRAP
- REXTRAP still delivers a Potassium beam to WITCH for the test of beam transport and deceleration in front of their first trap.
- The test source has to be opened to check the fitting for the Li Pellets
- Also there are high voltage breakdowns in the source at 60 kV, which have to be investigated.
- Pierre wants to buy some missing tools for REXTRAP
- The computers for the REXTRAP control shall no longer stand on the floor below the WITCH platform.
- Recabling of the new 200 MHz resonator has started
- Cabling of the vacuum system sect. 5 almost finished
- Installation of water supply for 9-Gap triplet will be beginning of March
- Work on 9-gap low level rack starts 23.02., takes two weeks. Afterwards the work has to be checked by Jose Marques (~another two weeks)
- Thomas wants to buy a new valve, which will be placed in the straight beamline of REX to separate the EMI from sect. 5. This offers the opportunity to install various components (e.g. small target chambers) for tests during the experiments without affecting the existing beamlines and detectors.
- Next major work on the LINAC is to install a dummy load on the 7Gap 2 amplifier for test of the outcoupling.
- The alignment of the Trap/EBIS transfer beamline is still a problem. Fredrik and Pierre will try an own solution.
- There are difficulties with the alignment of the EBIS drifttubes, anyway it should be finished by the end of February.
- Fredrik will take care now for a radioactive beam detector behind the EBIS to make a comparison of injected and ejected radioactive beam possible.
- Fredrik wants to buy a new collector power supply (> 5000 Euro), to cope with higher electron currents and also to have a spare one
- The responsible people at REX shall devide the workload there in work packages according to the CERN EVPM model.
- There will be a laser available for alignment work at ISOLDE in the near future. Details have to be discussed with Erwin Siesling.
