Minutes
from REX integration meeting
Present:
1. REXTRAP
The trap has been
opened up and the short cut on tube05 repaired. The trap ion source has still to
be opened up to check some dimensions not given in the drawing. Otherwise spare
parts to the ion source almost ready. The oil for the roughing pumps has been
changed.
2. REXEBIS
The inner structure
has been given to the Metrology for alignment. The magnet shield and the
extraction optics of the EBIS have been aligned to the Linac
reference line. The upgrading of the baking equipment is proceeding according
to schedule. The other TREK deflector supply has also been repaired, the 1100
euro cost falls out. Michael O’neil now knows the
supply fairly well. The serious extractor problem (leakage current) has been
solved by a fix; not needed to dismount the whole extraction side. The turbo
pumps have been dismantled for revision (exchange of bearings). So far no
support from the alignment group – what we ask for is ‘impossible’. A number of
smaller jobs have also been carried out. The purchase (voltage and current) of
a spare collector supply should be discussed with Leif Liljeby,
MSL.
3. Linac
- We
measured the length of the transmission line to the 200 MHz resonator. It needs
to be cut. The necessary tools from
- T.
Sieber started building up the emittance scanner. The
support must be modified. Another ~3000 CHF is needed to buy an additional
valve for section 5 (in front of the EMI). If a CF35 valve is sufficient, the
REXEBIS has one extra.
- T.
Sieber has ordered the cabling of the resonator and
of the new control rack.
-
Cabling of the vacuum components will start when the lead shielding is open
(beginning of next week)
- T.
Sieber gave a talk about REX operation in my new
group. Once more he had the impression that people are really interested and
willing to get into REX operation. To what extend this is possible must surely
be decided among the group leaders.
4. Misc
-
Stephan Emhofer has contacted Schwalm
concerning the work on the REX control system. As far as T. Sieber
understood, the reaction was quite positive. As said before, T. Sieber thinks he would be a good candidate.
