Tuning
*
* REXTRAP synchronized with protons pulses for 62Mn/Fe; not for 63Mn
ISOLDE
87Rb:
GPS.FC490 = 710pA RA0.FC90 = 610pA. Efficiency = 86%
Low
energy
* Stable beam 87Rb
Icoll=139 mA, Tperiod to 50 ms, Tbeamgate=10
ms, Tbred=44 ms (optimised
for 20+)
Trap inj plate 32.8 pA, BTS.FC20=17 pA => 52%
Trap inj plate=13 pA, RFQ.FC20(20+)=33 pA => 12.7% trap+EBIS efficiency
* Stable beam 55Mn
Icoll=179 mA, Tperiod=30 ms, Tbeamgate=10
ms, Tbreed=28.5 ms
Trap inj plate=12 pA, RFQ.FC20(background)=9.6 pA,
RFQ.FC20(55Mn15+)=32 pA
=>
trap+EBIS eff=12.4%
* Stable beam 55Mn
Icoll=189 mA, Tperiod=306 ms, Tbeamgate=10
ms, Tbreed=298 ms
Trap inj plate(no beam gate)=80 pA =>2.6 pA injected current
RFQ.FC20(55Mn21+)=4 epA =>7.3% trap+EBIS
efficiency (Tbreed maybe not sufficient)
62Mn21+
Tperiod=300 ms, Tbreed=298 ms
Trap synchronised with proton impact
62Mn15+
Tperiod=300 ms, Tbreed=28.4 ms
Trap synchronised with proton impact

Technical problems
* 7-gap3 filament supply broken + tube damaged (could not be
repaired immediately, 2 shifts lost)
* DB4 collimator getting stuck
*
X9GP.MQ10 locked in local mode after power glitch
* Several interruptions due to PSB problems
* Air conditioning to Linac stopped for
2 h
* The ISOLDE GPS separator was setup strangely as the voltages for
GPS.BE560 and CA0.KI10 had to interchanged
* The HRS robot at ISOLDE got stuck at a target change -> 2-3 h
beam time lost
* The EBIS booster turbo stopped working during the stable beam
setup
Comments / Lessons learned
* Linac settings are now well reproducible. Need little time
to tune the linac.
* Miniball FC very useful to optimize beamspot.
* When
beam was delivered the yield of Mn and Fe at Miniball was very good
* The
number of consecutive faults hampered the data-taking significantly
* The intrap decay studies could not be performed as all the
faults limited the beam time
