Minutes of the 4th meeting on access control
held on 12 September 2001
Present: U. Georg, E. Kugler, N. Rama
1. Access points:
- T1 and T2 equipped with card reader (not film badge readers)
- D1 opens with push button from inside
- D2 (large access to hall) equipped with card reader inside the hall
- G1 (large gate) motorised and equipped with remote control from site control room
- include emergency exit from SS lab. It should create an alarm when opened
2. System:
- The proposed access control system is "standard" (?) at CERN. The access
control implemented at SPS follows the same lines, LHC will be equipped with same system.
- Alarms of different sorts (bad function, time limits reached, door opened by force
…..) are sent to the site control room. The personnel takes the appropriate action
according to a predetermined procedure.
- The system is based on using a PC under Linux that will be installed near door T1.
3. Interphone and TV cameras
- To make full use of possibilities built into the system N. Rama strongly recommends to
install interphone and video equipment at least at 2 strategic points, T1 and G1.
- The staff in the site control room can interact with the person requesting access and/or
in case of problems or misuse only if the suitable means of communications are provided
(visual and auidible)
- All cables will be put in place already from the beginning to allow future modifications
and expansion of the system (e.g. card reader at G1, video at T2
4. Modification of building 601:
- The following items are NOT included in the proposal by gtd/ALSTOM:
- Installation of a new door at the Lausanne end of the building
- Move the electrical distribution panel
- Building of a closed platform at the Bellegarde end for installation of the turnstile
and RP equipment
