- The project is within budget. The spending is a bit slow but with orders expected duirng
the summer and autumn this should be corrected. The major budget post for 2001 is the
radioactive laboratory in the experimental area. This project is now being accelerated and
detailed drawings are now being made by the technical services. An additional budget
request will be made concerning the consolidation of ISOLDE instrumentation and power
supplies. These items were included in the project but with no budget as the concerned
groups needed more time to investigate the needs.
- The ISOLDE instrumentation: The existing instrumentation is well adapted to the ISOLDE
needs. However, there is a great lack of spare units and documentation. The change of the
ISOLDE control system will require modifications to the control part of the
instrumentation. This was not included in the control groups study and budget request (as
for all other PS instruments this forms part of the BD groups responsibility). The
constructions of spare units for ISOLDE will be focused on key instruments that are
critical for the operation of the facility. A program of standardization of faraday cups
will simplify the issue of spares. The project leader encouraged the BD group to together
with Erich Kugler search for any existing documentation and to do this with some urgency.
(Presentations by C. Bal, faraday-cups,
and by G-J Focker, General
instrumentation consolidation, in html format).
- Next meeting will take place 13 June 2001 at 11.00 and will be dedicated to the
consolidation of the target and ion source manufacturing and development facilities.
